Care assistant vacancy
In 2025 we became the first vet practice in the UK (and the second employer in Greater Manchester) to achieve triple accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation. This means that we pay our employees the Real Living Wage, offer them secure hours, and help them to save for a dignified retirement.
£13.45/hour (£26,577.20 per annum)
Our independent, multi-award winning, triple Living Wage Foundation accredited, cat-only vet practice has a rare opportunity for a care assistant to join our friendly team.
Ideally we are looking for a full-time candidate for this position, with compressed hours over 4 weekdays (with a mixture of 8am-6pm, 8.30am-6.30pm and 9.30am-7.30pm shifts), although we would consider hiring two part-time candidates.
Front of house - managing the diary, taking payments, taking telephone calls, answering emails and social media messages
Maintaining the organisation and cleanliness of the practice
Dispensing medications and re-ordering pharmacy stock
Monitoring & collating client feedback
Administration of the healthy cat plan
Helping with the practice social media accounts
Assisting the vets and RVNs with cat handling and care
Assisting with preparing patients for theatre
Running laboratory samples
Real Living Wage, Living Hours & Living Pension accredited employer
Opportunities for additional ad-hoc hours for holiday cover if part time
Staff discount scheme
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Organisation and multitasking skills
Great attitude and personable nature
A love of cats and desire to provide outstanding customer care to their owners
The ideal candidate will have experience working as a VCA / ACA in a veterinary practice but we will consider candidates without this experience if they have excellent customer service skills and "cattitude".
If part-time, the ability to do ad-hoc additional cover for holidays etc is desirable but not essential.
Unfortunately this position is not suitable for those who wish to enrol onto veterinary nurse training, due to the fact that we are a cat-only vets and cannot take on nurse apprentices as they can't complete the full training with us in all the required species.
